Jesus - The Only Way!

Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [(but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also]. 1 John 2:23

In our present day and age, there are many who believe in God, yet fail to believe in His Son as the Doorway through which we come to Him.

Throughout this letter we have discovered that John was writing concerning Gnostic teachers who proclaimed that Jesus was the "Way shower" but did not believe Him to be the Way. As in Johns day, there are many that teach God as a "higher power" or as an impersonal "Universal Force" but as the Gnostic's, fail to include Jesus Christ into their beliefs. Look at various new age teachings and you will find that while many of these teachers speak positively of Jesus, they don't view Him as the only begotten Son of God or as an absolute necessity to a relationship with the Father.

In speaking to Thomas Jesus said,

...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

Every day millions attempt to come to God through their religious ideas and philosophies while God has said that for one to attempt to enter His fold apart from His Son, is the same as a thief trying to enter a home and plunder it!

In John 10:1 Jesus said,

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

In Genesis chapter 28 we find the story of a man named Jacob, who after a long journey became weary and set up camp for the night; after falling asleep, Jacob dreamed of a ladder that stretched from earth to heaven. We read in Genesis 28:10-12,

And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put [them for] his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it...

and verses 16-17 we also read,

And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew [it] not. And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful [is] this place! this [is] none other but the house of God, and this [is] the gate of heaven.

These verses are an allegory - a spiritual parallel - concerning Jesus who said in John 1:51,

...Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

Again, Jesus says in John 10:9,

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Jesus is the door, He is the gate of heaven and if you will ever know God, then you must come through Him!

In Matthew 22:11-14 we find the parable of a man that came to a wedding but had no wedding garment, in the same way many want want to know God, but they aren't properly dressed for Him; the only way to be spiritually dressed is to be dressed in a way that is acceptable to God and the only acceptable garment is for one to be robed with the wedding garment of God's righteousness; this righteousness can only be found through Jesus Whom God gave in your behalf.

Ask many what they believe about spiritual things and they may reply, "I believe in God" and while this is a good starting point, it is only the first step. The apostle James says,

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. James 2:19

Dear friend, in a day and age when the world proclaims many "Paths to God" I would encourage you to realize that there is only one way and that way is through Jesus and His finished work on your behalf.

Jesus is the Door, He is the Gate of Heaven and He is the only Way to know peace with the Father.
